I am human.
I spend so much time, energy and thought processes trying to be perfect, the ideal family member, societally acceptable, and, above all, pleasing to God, that when someone told me “You’re human.”, it was actually the best thing they could have said to encourage me.
I had forgotten that.
That it is okay to mess up. Messing up is human, I am human. People don’t usually expect perfection, they do expect you to be human, though.
Underneath everything – all that I regret; everything I wish I’d said, or hadn’t; things I’ve done, or didn’t do; judgements I’ve made – God still created me human, knowing I’d be fallible. And He’s okay with that. To err is human, to arr is pirate
Breathe, it’s okay. Look at the thing causing you worry – mom, pet, situation, work – and wonder if they really expect, really, you to never miss a beat. Some people and situations do. But the people who really care about you, nah. They know that you are lovable, and really a human, prone to error, susceptible to mistakes, but also the most effective medium of love on this earth. They are too.
To err is human…
To forgive is divine. (Alexander Pope) Forgive yourself. Forgive others. ‘Tis divine. 🙂
