The Shake for when You Don’t Want to Eat

This shake is perfect for when you don’t want to eat and you don’t have time to, either.

For when your house is a mess because you haven’t been there for a week, and that crisis is right there in your face making you outwardly calm, but inwardly freaking out, and BT is ragging on you for your pronoun use, again, and you haven’t had slept for like a week either, and your fridge doesn’t work.

That makes me lose my will to eat. Which, as some of you probably know, isn’t really good because I’ve already been anorexic.

I was even making really good progress in non-restrictive eating this last month. But this doozy up and whacked me in the head, and I lost the will to eat.

For a recent party, I’d bought all sorts of flavors of chocolate, and this was a good eating incentive, but not the best meal to repeat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. 😀

So, here is what I stumbled upon for a perfect in-between things and stressed stomach. And even with all my fridgerables separated from my pantry stuff, wasn’t too hard to do. (Seems pretty similar to this recipe: Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie from Chocolate Covered Katie. But this one doesn’t trigger my weird anti-smoothie-stomach, but I bet it was inspired in the back of my head by her recipe. 😀 )

  • Food processor (or blender, whatever works for you! 🙂 )

Add:

  • 1/4-1/3 cup of oatmeal

Take the food processor bottom and walk over to your wherever your fridge is.

Add

  • 1/2 a frozen banana
  • 1 Tablespoon of Peanut Butter (organic, if you got it.)
  • 1/2 cup (or so) of Dannon plain yogurt (with the watery stuff)

Walk back to your place or wherever the base of food processor is.

Mix until smooth.

  • Add a dash of cinnamon
  • A (small) pour of syrup (real maple)

Pour into a little dish. It fills up a little ice-cream bowl, and is easy to slurp up and then go to work. And it super tasty!!

I have a pretty sensitive stomach. If I am upset at all, I will refuse my food (not literally), it will turn to ashes, and I can’t eat any more. And then when I try to work, I will get a stomach ache if I go from eating to work too quickly. Not so with this. So I am happy to have something (besides chocolate) that I can eat on short notice and without upsetting the delicate balance of running around like a chicken, that is currently working for me. (It really is.)

  1. I make this all the time! Some other add-ins to consider (depending on your likes/tolerance): ground flaxseed, brown sesame seeds, unsweetened shredded coconut, canned pumpkin, blackstrap molasses. I just look around for whatever healthy stuff I’ve got.
