Winter Nail Art Challenge – Gingerbread

I wanted to tap into the happy feel and bright candy colors of gingerbread decoration, so I stared with colorful backgrounds. I kept them light or pastel so the brown would show up.

I don’t actually own brown nail polish, though. When my friend visited and we did nail art, we found equal parts light green and orange with a dab of black make brown!

Winter Nail Challenge #1 – Red & Green

Lacky Corner generously and cordially said I could join in her annual Winter Nail Art Challenge (Winter NAC) again this year!! Thank you so much! ๐Ÿ™‚

Today’s theme: Red & Green.

I’m prepping for a trip, so I didn’t have a lot of extra time, but I really wanted to join the first challenge I could, so I went with one of my favorite things to do variations of – French Nails.

Red and Green 1

If you’d like an easy, festive and unique polish job, I would recommend this!

Base: sparkle nail polish (I used Sally Hansen Pearly Whites)

French tips: Red and green, gently brushed on with the nail polish brush

Happy December! Have a great evening!

Winter N.A.C – New Year’s Eve

Hello, fair ladies and gents! ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s New Year’s Eve!!

Isn’t it??

Oh, wow, it is – really?

And today’s nail art theme, paralelling that fact, is also “New Year’s Eve”.

Have you watched New Year’s Eve? We tried it last year…

Anyways, I painted this last night while watching Midsomer Murders – my fam was very patient with my hobby and freely gave feedback and helped me figure out how a firework might look.

Winter N.A.C. – Elfen Shoes and Mucho Much Sparkles!!

Short and sweet as I am spending lovely quality time with my fam, today ๐Ÿ™‚

Today’s challenge: Santa, Elf or Reindeer. Mom thought of elf shoes, and they concurred that they should be green, not brown, and so elf shoes it was.

Mom also assisted in the painting of the elfen shoes. Thanks!!

I like it – I think it’s cute, and I finally got to use my big sparkly polish that had been troublesome, up till now. Totally overkill in the sparkle department, today – (and overpainting – sorry, de woops), but sparkles are great.

Sorry that the photos aren’t terrific, but I hope they convey all right – it was a little dark, and I didn’t want to take much time… ย ๐Ÿ™‚

Merry Christmas, all!!!! And in the words of Tiny Tim – God bless us everyone. ๐Ÿ˜€

And for all my non-Christmas-celebrating peeps – Have a terrific night and great weekend!!

Winter N.A.C – Tinsel/Ornaments

Happy “Christmas is 2 Days Away”, everybody! Hope you are having a wonderful time (even if Christmas isn’t on your radar)!!

A Christmas Cat — because cat and snow!

Today’s nail art challenge was titled Tinsel/Ornaments – so I thought I’d try both… although (as you seen in the header) apparentlyย orย was an option. ๐Ÿ™‚

Well, if you’ve seen Zorro, today’s art may harken you back to it –

Zorro, the mask-ed swordsman

Had a very brilliant steed

And if he ever saw a don

He would start to pick up speed

Then one Mexican Revolution

Original Zorro came to say

Alejandro, with your zeal so bright

Won’t you take my place tonight?

(to the tune of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer ๐Ÿ™‚ )

Winter N.A.C – Christmas Carol or Song

I landed onย Good King Wenceslas as the song I wanted to “nail art” because I figured not many other people would be tackling it. ๐Ÿ™‚

It wasn’t until I looked at the other nail art today that I realized that others weren’t looking at the challenge the same way I was — as an illustration idea like frame-by-frame –, but I decided to go ahead anyway – I was too curious about how it would work!

To illustrate Good King Wenceslas, with the King and Page together was my very original idea, but then I decided to do it as prompt cards. What was the next verse? Hmmm… oh! Something about mountains!

It’s not very photogenic, but I had so much fun doing this and the idea that people mightย look at my nails and then break out into song is intriguing. ๐Ÿ˜›

wenceslas(I did photoshop just one part – I had this weird, tiny red dot on the top of the blue on the mountains, totally invisible in real life, so I thought it would be okay to take it out, if I told you.)

And of course I added the borders. ๐Ÿ™‚ I hoped it would transport the brain back to Wenceslas’s time. ๐Ÿ˜€

So there is the crown (for Wenceslas):

The moon and fire (gath’ring winter fuel)…

The mountain where the peasant lives under….

The miraculous Kingly footprints…

And the cross is a moreย abstract illustration of the last verse — illustrating “Christian men”, mainly.

Secondly, I had the other hand, and I considered if I wanted to do another song.

And I did!

I did Silver Bells on this hand:

silver bells

First is the sidewalks dressed in holiday style…

Then meeting smile after (rainbow-colored) smile…

Thenย silv-er bellls…..

Then the stoplights that even blink red and green…

And Santa, who’s big scene it is.

Merry Christmas!

Sorry, I got to cut this post short, but I will see you soon!

Oh! Sorry, I forgot to put this on before — check out the other entries! ๐Ÿ˜€
